Inspired by the philosophies of Carl Jung, Lao Tzu, Daoism, and the experience of metamorphosis. Growing “into” requires a destruction of what was. “Destruction of the Old” explores the tension and inner conflict that can exist when actively morphing into a new version of your self, as well as the complex relationship between the “self” and what Jung referred to as the “shadow”.

A friend once spoke to me about how the caterpillar breaks down everything that it was before transforming into a butterfly. How excruciatingly painful that must be.

This production was performed at Sam Houston State University in April 2024 at the James & Nancy Gaertner Performing Arts Center.
